Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visited Los Angeles on June 20, 2009 to consolidate support from her Fil-Am allies so she can run for Congress in the upcoming 2010 elections.

1,013 political killings and over 200 abductions and disappearances have occurred under her regime, as well as countless corruption scandals such as vote rigging in the 2004 elections.

Her second term as President ends in 2010 and she can no longer run for the presidency. But she is desperately trying to cling to power.

Her alleged plan is to become Speaker of the House and push through with a Constituent Assembly (Con-Ass), where the Congress would vote to change the Philippine Constitution through Charter Change (Cha-Cha).

Then they would convert the Congress into a Parliamentary form of government, with herself ruling as the Prime Minister for an indefinite period of time.
